We spent November on Ode to our Joy with our dog and it was a first class holiday -- highly recommend it to boaters and others who are looking for a lovely, private home away from home but with the top sights of San Diego close by. Great facilities, well stocked galley, spacious heads, charming staterooms, great cockpit and bridge, lots of privacy, great location, great marina! The staff at Shelter Cove marina are very friendly and looked after us very well. Lovely docks, fantastic live-aboard sailors to chat to, terrific beaches, restaurants and chandleries close by. We can't say enough about this terrific holiday and hope to return next year. Thanks Shaun and crew!

For a short stay-cation and our anniversary, we decided to try out staying on a boat. Boat BnB provided a perfect opportunity to do this. The location is great for getting away and relaxing. The boat stay was fun and opened our thoughts to living aboard. Shaun was very helpful and handled our tardiness professionally Silver Cloud.

Elegante We loved our stay on this wood boat. Our guests really enjoyed visiting us and there was plenty of room for everyone. We just relaxed and watch the world go by, sailboats, seals, naval vessels. Shaun is a great manager.

Ode to our Joy This was the first time my husband and I tried this unique type of getaway. This beautiful yacht offers so much more than a simple beach hotel, you enjoy the beach community and breath taking ocean sights, smells and sounds of being right on the water. The scent of the fresh sea combined with the luxurious master suite made for a wonderful nights rest. We had a romantic evening, totally secluded, yet having all the comforts of home. It was so nice having a full kitchen, no need for expensive room service or rushing out to eat. We woke to coffee on the deck, absolutely incredible, right on the water! This yacht is even more beautiful than the pictures show. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, the most wonderful mini vacation we have ever enjoyed. I highly recommend this to anyone thinking of taking a unique vacation!

Great experience! The service was wonderful- thank you Shaun. I truly enjoyed the time I spent on Ode to our Joy. Plenty of room and comfortable stay. The experience was much better than the standard hotel room and a great change to my normal business travel schedule. I plan to return soon. Highly recommended.
Martha & Christina – Draper, UT – August 6, 2014
My daughter, Christina, and I spent a week on the Sea Horse this summer (2014). We enjoyed excellent accommodations conveniently located in the Shelter Cove Marina. The boat living experience was exciting and unique. We had three separate, immaculately clean bedrooms, two bathrooms, beautiful galley with large dining table and lounging deck. We enjoyed sailing around the bay and being lulled to sleep every night. The location was only two miles from the San Diego Airport, a few miles to Sea World, Coronado Island, Old Towne San Diego, and several exceptional beaches. An excellent restaurant was located right at the Marina! We felt like we were on a cruise in some exotic port. Then to top it off, we were on location in front row position for the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks display in the bay! What a wonderful alternative to the traditional family vacation. The person taking care of our needs was wonderful. She anticipated our every nee d! We plan to return next year--for a month this time. Great experience! Martha Forrest Christina Forrest Evans

Ode to our Joy. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time staying on board with our 3 children. It was centrally located, the amenities were top notch and there were plenty of restaurants etc nearby. Our children loved the novelty of staying on a boat. We would recommend.
Peyton U. – Dallas, TX – August 2, 2014
We absolutely LOVED our stay on Ode to our Joy. Shaun was very welcoming and showed us around to get us acquainted with marina life. Our long weekend stay was perfect and we hardly wanted to leave the boat! We'll definitely be back again. You couldnt ask for a better location, great amenities, awesome staff, great boat. It all adds up to a my kind of vacation.

My family and I stayed at the Pilot Chalet for two nights in July 2014. The Cabin was perfect! It was really clean and comfortable. The rooms were big, the bathrooms had toilet paper, soap, shampoo, etc., and the kitchen had everything you needed. Using the Jacuzzi at the end of the day was really relaxing. We would recommend this place to our family and friends!
Nicole P. – Placentia, CA – July 25, 2014
This was our third stay here; twice on the Slipaway. She is definitely my favorite little yacht due to her charm and personality. This older wooden ship seems to have so many stories to tell. This is a very relaxing Marina; not nearly as busy and noisy as other marinas we have visited. Shaun and her colleagues are so friendly and accommodating. They make sure that your stay is enjoyable and comfortable as possible. The ship itself it comfy and perfect for two people. The galley has plenty of space to store your snacks and beverages. The marina staff make sure you have plenty of ice, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and orange juice. Everyone there is s friendly. It truly is a relaxing place to visit with nearby amenities within walking, biking or driving distance. The bathrooms are kept clean and the showers are nice. They have an on site gym, laundry facility (bring soap and quarters) and soda machine. You can rent kayaks or just lay on your boat an d be rocked to sleep. Can't wait to go back!!

I have stayed on Ode to our Joy twice. Once for 8 days, the second time was 3 Days. I am looking forward to my next time. You couldnt ask for a better location, great amenities, awesome staff, great boat. It all adds up to a my kind of vacation.
Dan R. – Lusby, MD – July 3, 2014
We had a great time on the Silver Cloud. The boat was perfectly set up for a couple. It was very clean and comfortable. The galley and head were nicely equipped and everything was easy to use. The marina is very nice and close to lots of fun things to do. Shaun and her staff were very friendly and helpful. The quickly showed us everything we needed to know about the boat and about the facilities. Shaun also gave us a lot of excellent information about marina life in San Diego. The other boats she manages were also very nice. We will absolutely be back.

Where to start.... We were met at the front office by Jesse and his coworker with big smiles and warm welcomes. They actually took our luggage, bikes, kayaks, and the infamous Surfjet off the truck and brought it to the Silver Cloud. It was very low tide, so going down the ramp was a bit of a chore. All weekend long Jesse continued to ask us if our visit was good and if we needed anything. It could not have been a better weekend. Boat was great, very clean, everything worked except for the liquor dispenser.... Yes Jesse I looked at it, and tried to get it working ;) No luck, its missing parts. Neighbors around the marina are very helpful and polite. Charlies Houseboat is one to see, ask for a tour! My only recommendation is to put a key for the BBQ on the set of keys for the boat. We had to circumvent the lock system one night....sorry Jesse... ;)
Terri C. – Los Angeles, CA – April 21, 2014
Staying on this boat is so relaxing, I cannot begin to describe how much I have enjoyed my weekends aboard. First of all, if you are going to spend top dollar at a San Diego hotel for a water view, why not spend your money on Boat B n B and be ON the water? Plus, you are surrounded by great walking paths and good restaurants close by, if you must leave the boat. Frankly, I stopped at a nearby Trader Joe's, bought food and wine, and other than to walk my dog, I didn't want to leave. The views are lovely, the boat is comfortable, and the extra amenities in the kitchen are greatly appreciated. There is a slight rocking motion to the boat -- be advised -- but unless you are particularly sensitive, it should not be an issue. I think the boat is perfect for two adults, and perhaps two little children. For one person and a small dog -- absolutely ideal. I found it cozy, and very quiet, even when the neighbors were having a party. I have stayed on Silver Cloud twice now and cannot wait to come back. Shaun and her team do everything possible to make your stay comfortable, and any issues (and for me, they were small) are handled immediately. I recommend the experience highly: it's something different, and you will find yourself telling all your friends about it.
Roger I. – Corona, CA – April 16, 2014
The boat, the environment, Shaun and her staff, everything about our stay was fantastic. I have told everyone that we know about our stay and I would recommend the Silver Cloud to anyone looking for a different type of getaway.
Terri C. – Los Angeles, CA – February 2, 2014
I always want a water view when I get a chance to take some time off, and I ask you, what could be more perfect than staying on a boat, where the ocean becomes your front yard? I stayed on Silver Cloud for a few days, and absolutely loved it. Yes, it's on the water, so you will feel movement, and yes, if you have claustrophobia, the size and ceiling height of this particular craft might bother you -- but it didn't bother me at all! This was the best use of small space I have ever encountered, and it's probably larger than some NYC apartments! Great little kitchen with stove/microwave, a fridge and freezer, 2 flat screen TVs, closet space, a couch and a lovely banquette that can turn into another sleeping area (though I didn't use it that way). You can lounge topside, and just a few steps away, up the ramp, enough green space for you and your dog o walk alongside the bay.. Appreciated the thoughtful touches left by management: basic spices, coffee/tea/c reamer, fresh fruit, oatmeal and OJ. Nice neighbors, very quiet, beautiful sunsets. Two things you should know: nothing goes in the head but what comes out of you, so you do have to adjust to that, and fighter jets from nearby naval base are so loud they set off car alarms, but you get used to it after awhile, and when you're inside the boat, with hatch closed, they are a lot less noticeable. Special kudos to the housekeeper. The boat was spotless. And many thanks to manager Shawn for immediately answering operational questions, and making little glitches go away. I'm going back again!

Our family of 6 (4 kids are all in their early 20's) thoroughly enjoyed Christmas week in Shaun's (Pilot Chalet)! It is a VERY clean, comfortable and well laid out cabin. It had everything we were looking for (and more): pet friendly (fenced yard and large corner lot), internet, fireplace, hot tub, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, generous supply of towels, pillow, and blankets, flat screen TVs in every room, great selection of DVD's (we laughed @ the similarities between our collections), washer and dryer (fabulous to have), dishwasher, and humidifiers in each room (mountain air is very dry and these were lifesavers!). Don't fret if you forget any toiletries...they are in both bathrooms. We loved the "family time" on the HUGE sectional sofa & felt like we were in our own home. Thanks Shaun, we had a GREAT trip and will return!

Ski In/Ski Out Condo. Wonderful, comfy condo at the base of the slopes. Great location for our family of 5 with three kids under 8. Easy access to ski school, our priority, and walking back for naps mid day. Downstairs bedrooms comfortable, small entry way with no ski storage. Upstairs fold-out couch, great fireplace and well stocked kitchen. Already booking again

It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we wanted to do something a little different. So we booked a 2 night stay on Ode to our Joy. It was absolutely perfect! The owner, Shaun, met us and couldn't have been more helpful. The boat was beautiful, spacious, airy, light and had everything we needed for our stay. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. The weather was glorious and spent a lot of time sitting on deck enjoying the marvelous views and bobbing about on the water. We plan to stay again very soon.
Gwyn G. – La Mesa, CA – August 15, 2013
The Crazy Notion was absolutely one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. We live locally and wanted a fun weekend staycation and this was the perfect place. So, much more interesting, exciting and romantic than staying at a hotel. It is very spacious inside and we loved waking up in the morning and having coffee out on the deck while the sun was just coming up and spending the evenings with a glass of wine watching the sunset. Also, many very good and convenient restaurants all within walking. We will certainly be back to try the rest of the fleet!!
Ron H. – Sun Lakes, AZ – August 12, 2013
Had a great time, enjoyed the Bayliner (Ode to our Joy). It would be nicer if we did not have to go ashore to use the bathroom. But, it is what it is.
Daniel D. – Carson, CA – July 22, 2013
This was our first time renting a property (Pilot Chalet) out in Big Bear. Shaun was very accommodating and walked me through the process, and was very helpful. The cabin exceeded our expectations, We had a group of 8 and a little Corgi. We Had a great time relaxing in the hot tub, cooking group dinners and watching some of the wide range of movies\games that were included in the cabin. The cabin had everything you need to have a good time, just bring the food! We are already planning to return during the winter season and enjoy the snow!
Heather K. – Phoenix, AZ – July 12, 2013
This boat (Slipaway) is amazing! Plenty of room for a couple. Everything you need is provided on this boat. Shelter Cove Marina is clean, quiet, and secure. The harbor is conveniently located to get around town. We took advantage of some of the restaurant discounts and found some great new spots. If you like being close to the water this is a great option. Can wait to go back!
TJ J. – Tuscon, AZ – July 8, 2013
We enjoyed our stay (Crazy Notion). A few ideas. More outside seating - deck chairs. (only one on boat). Fresh towels daily would be good. Doing laundry for short stays not easy. No cable. I had ESPN withdrawals! We look forward to seeing the new 50 foot Bayliner for a newer feel.
Matteo F. – Irvine, CA – June 19, 2013
We were very pleased with the spacious condo and all the amenities. Some of the many highlights include the location of the (Ski In/Ski Out Condo) condo, the hot tub, and the convenient parking. Shaun and the condo's management were very accommodating and helpful. We will definitely be back and recommend this condo for all ages.
Shelli K. – San Marcos, CA – June 19, 2013
Big cabin (Pilot Chalet), very comfortable and well-stocked with everything you need (just add food, drinks and fun). The only thing we never did figure out was how to use the DVD player (we were mesmerized by a whole wall of DVD's available), but I'm SURE that operator error played a huge part ... and with so much else to do in Big Bear...who cared?! It was great to be able to bring our family pets with us on vacation rather than kennel them (the fenced yard was perfect).
Cory L. – Santa Monica, CA – May 29, 2013
My wife and I stayed on the Silver Cloud for the 2013 Memorial Day weekend this past May. We a were little apprehensive, and now we can say that it was absolutely the right choice. We were pleasantly surprised that there was plenty of room for the two of us. If there had been another couple (or possibly three people) things would have been a bit cramped, but it would have been o.k. as long as they were close friends and not high maintenance types. The amenities all work wonderfully, and morning coffee on the back deck is awesome. We had to tear ourselves away from the serenity of the scene. We never used the heat or A/C - just opening and closing the hatches allowed sufficient temperature control. The bathroom/locker rooms on shore were clean, and there are three showers with partitions and locking doors, no lines (in the men’s anyway). The fitness facility could use a little updating, but it was sufficient (the lone treadmill is very new/updated, though). We went to a concert and dinner at Humphrey's by the Bay which is about a five minute walk; also, the beer/sausages at Fathom are divine. Driving to Sea World is under 10 minutes, and La Jolla was 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. We are already planning another stay on another vessel. This is a great vacation for being active, or just relaxing and sunbathing.
Nancy T. – Temecula, CA – May 26, 2013
This was an amazing experience. Cant wait to go back again. Everyone was so professional, boat (Slipaway) was well kept, views great. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend or a nice, long vacation.
